Botox won't reverse wrinkling caused by sun damage. Your skin type, skin thickness, age and degree of wrinkling all play a role in determining whether these injections are effective for you.
The Procedure
Today, Botox is used to treat a variety of conditions, including ocular muscle spasms, problems with eye coordination, severe armpit perspiration and migraine headaches. It’s also useful as an anti-wrinkle treatment for crow’s feet, frown lines, and furrows in the forehead.
Botox injection is performed in the doctor's office, usually without anesthesia. However, a numbing cream may be applied to the treatment area. Patients may experience some minimal discomfort from the needle injection. Depending on the extent of treatment, the procedure can take a few minutes up to 20 minutes. Generally, patients return home shortly after the treatment is complete.
Results are usually evident within one week and last about three to five months.

What Do Injections Feel Like?
Botox injections should be minimally painful if they are done correctly. Numbing cream applied to the skin before injection or cooling the skin and underlying muscle by applying an ice pack to the skin before injection will help. When these techniques are used, most patients do not even feel the injection. Immediately after treatment you may resume normal activity. Side effects are usually mild and temporary. Mild bruising is sometimes seen and resolves within 2-3 days. Two weeks prior to injections, limiting use of aspirin-based products can minimize the bruising.
